No Worries

Every day has it's challenges.

Whether it is waiting for test results, an upcoming doctor's appointment, a planned vacation, a major family event such as a wedding or reunion, a job interview, or a financial deadline, we all have future days that we could be potentially anxious about.

Jesus said, "...do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble." - Matthew 6:34

But Jesus commands us not to be anxious. Read Matthew 6:25-34 and Luke 12:22-31.

The emphasis in these passages is on choosing to trust in God to provide for us. If we do this, we are left with no reason to be anxious because God is perfectly able and willing to give us everything we need for His glory.

If our life focus is to bring glory to God and lift up His name, He will surely empower us to do so and therefore we can rest assured that He has everything under control and we needn't worry.

To add some deeper reasoning to the discussion, Jesus also says, "And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?" - Luke 12:25

He's got me there. Worrying is truly a waste of time and energy in all respects.

Later in the New Testament, the apostle Paul also has some words for us about anxiety. He says, "do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." - Philippians 4:6-7

Hold tightly to the promises of God and surrender your anxieties to Him. He will take care of your needs and give you peace if you seek first His kingdom.
