How else would we expect to hear the voice of God but through His Word? His Word is the absolute truth and there is no other book on earth that proclaims itself as such. Having walked by faith for a large chunk of my life I have found that there is no reason for me to doubt that God's Word is exactly that and that in and through it He calls us to know who He is. How incredible is that?! That we can understand some of who God is! Of course we will never fully understand God, but that is why He is God, and I'll spend the rest of my life discovering as much about Him as I can for He has proved Himself faithful through and to His Word over and over again to me. After all, who am I to challenge what God has proclaimed? I am only human.
Even Jesus proclaimed that we need the Word of God when He said, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.'" - Matthew 4:4
Jesus is also known as the Word as stated in John 1.
He also says this regarding the Word of God, "Whoever is of God hears the words of God." - John 8:47
Paul says in 2 Timothy 3:16 that, "All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work."
Also, in Titus 1:9 regarding overseers in the church it is said, "He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it."
Hebrews 4:12 says, "For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart."
Also, at the end of Scripture it is said, "I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book. He who testifies to these things says, 'Surely I am coming soon,' Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!" - Revelation 22:18-20
There's no turning back and so I'll sing...
Word of God Speak by MercyMe
I'm finding myself at a loss for words
And the funny thing is it's okay
The last thing I need is to be heard
But to hear what You would say
Word of God speak
Would You pour down like rain
Washing my eyes to see
Your majesty
To be still and know
That You're in this place
Please let me stay and rest
In Your holiness
Word of God speak
I'm finding myself in the midst of You
Beyond the music, beyond the noise
All that I need is to be with You
And in the quiet hear Your voice
Word of God speak
Would You pour down like rain
Washing my eyes to see
Your majesty
To be still and know
That You're in this place
Please let me stay and rest
In Your holiness
