Kneeboarding

is painful...

I watched this little girl, like 10 years old, tackle a kneeboard like it was no big deal. She made it look so easy! She started out by laying on her stomach while holding the rope in her hands. Then the boat took off and she was up on that thing within 30 seconds, riding it like a pro.

Then my Dad took a turn and showed us all up real good.

Then, with my Dad's help to get them up, my three youngest siblings each took a turn on the board. First Daniel, also 10. Then Hannah, 15. Then Landon, 13.

All did fairly well on the kneeboard, except Hannah wiped out pretty bad when the tip of the board caught a wave. She was done for the day...and maybe for life. I don't think one wants to jump in and try again too quickly after slapping the water hard with their face. Just saying...

Oh yeah, one more person tried out the kneeboard.

Me.

I wanted to get up on my own without my Dad's help. How hard could it be? A 10-year-old girl did it! Well, I was dragged all around on my belly for quite some time, enduring the harsh laughter coming at me from the boat. Ok, it was fun :). Then my Dad helped me up...

It was crazy! I thought I was going to die! It was fun until I realized that I had absolutely no control over the thing. The only thing I could do is move slightly from side to side. Leaning back to keep the nose out of the water was not happening as easily as I thought it was supposed to. A couple of waves hit and all of the sudden my face was in the water and in no time I had done a front flip while completely submerged in the lake.

My neck has been hurting for two days now :P.

I am the kind of person that has to be good at something before I'll give it another try.

Especially if it involves potential pain.
